Still Standing (and dancing)

Ever have one of those days when a song just keeps running through your head? That almost annoying tune that if you don’t burst out singing in the office or while preparing dinner you feel like you’ll just… burst? Well, if the song is by Elton John, it’s anything but annoying! And if you (or me… this is all completely hypothetical, of course ;-) ) happen to start singing … and dancing … to it, who knows? Maybe you’ll start the next flash mob sensation! Just take a look at what the lovely city of Galveston did. To take a line from their uplifting video, “Life isn’t about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.”

Kitten Valentine

Pick of the Week: February 13 – 19

And here it is – the day that can bring both happiness and sadness, depending on what your relationship status is and how you’re feeling about it. This day is certainly special to a lot of those happily “taken” or married, so even this week’s pick is going to be special – our own design for Valentine’s Day called Kitten Valentine, for all those who were made for loving each other. :-)

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY to those who celebrate it, and good nerves to those who don’t. ;-)

Take Me To Your Heart

This week’s pick makes me think of the 80′s. Bright colors, slightly crazy, a lot of fun. Whips, taming… Well, you get the idea. ;-) And because the 80′s brought a lot of good music, too, let’s rock to:

Take me to your heart, never let me go
If you knew what I’m feelin’, you would not say no
Take me to your heart, never let me go
For your love, for your love is all I need to know

Just because… *cracks whip* …it’s fun to tame someone’s heart. :D

Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Pick of the Week: January 02 – 08

We’ve decided to change our Pick of the Day to Pick of the Week as our schedules have gotten more busy recently. So from now on, we want to regularly feature only one design a week, with the possibility of random Picks of the Day whenever we find more designs worth posting throughout one week. You can keep submitting your designs of course. :)

This week’s design is this amazing vintage roses notepad. Who says that you have to write your ideas down on a plain slip of paper? The brilliance of your thoughts will definitely stand out even more when you record them on paper with a beautiful design. Be it amazing plans for your business or thoughtful lyrics like Poison’s:

Every rose has its thorn
Just like every night has its dawn
Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song
Every rose has its thorn.

Don’t be afraid to make bold plans for 2012!

Christmas Memories

Sunday brings two beautiful Christmas binder designs. Santa’s Workshop has a magical, fairy-tale feel – plenty of snow, windows revealing warm light inside, smoke rising up out of the chimney… The Christmas a child’s mind dreams about and loves. Red and Gold Christmas is a classy design with a color combination that never disappoints. It’s very fancy looking and will surely be appreciated by every classic art lover. But what would even the most beautiful binder be without something meaningful inside? So don’t forget to fill it with your favorite Christmas Memories. :)

Wait, wait, Mister Postman!

Have you sent out Christmas cards yet? If not, you definitely should as soon as possible. And if you’re someone who spends hours picking out the right Christmas card, you might try to go one step further this year and get yourself these customizable stamps. Make your Christmas cards special with these little pieces of art; so special that people will want to frame your cards and show them off to their friends. So hurry because you really don’t want your relatives and friends to beg like this:

Wait, oh yes, wait a minute, mister postman
Wait, wait, mister postman…

There must be some word today
From my best friend so far away
Please, mister postman, look and see
If there’s a letter, a letter for me…

Let there be Peace on Earth

After yesterday’s post about Peace on Earth, I just had to share one other design that popped up while searching “Peace on Earth”. It’s special to me because it’s by one of my favorite artists – I even have one of her prints hanging on my wall. You should check out all the other wonderful artwork by DudaDaze!

“Let there be peace on earth… and let it begin with me.” The sentiment brings to mind John Lennon’s Happy Xmas (War Is Over). Peace on Earth begins when all the wars end. Peace on Earth begins with me. There’s a Christmas Peace I can “imagine”! :-)

Christmas Wish

I’m going to let you in on a Christmas secret. (No, it’s not what I’m giving Dean for Christmas ;-) ) It’s my all-time favorite Christmas song since I was a child. I can remember watching this when it first aired and being blown away, not only by the unique combination but also by the message. It stayed with me for days afterward, and now that I’m older I understand why.

Every child must be made aware
Every child must be made to care
Care enough for his fellow man
To give all the love that he can…
I pray my wish will come true
For my child and your child too.

Now that I’ve got you in the Christmas spirit, I want to share two designs that remind me of my favorite song. It’s only fitting since it’s two songs in one with two uniquely wonderful singers.

May you have Peace this Christmas and all through the New Year.
~Kat

Back to the Good Ol’ Days Cookbook

Have you ever wanted to go back to the good old days, watching your Memaw cooking in the kitchen… and “helping” by standing on a stool and pouring ingredients in a bowl or adding the sprinkles to her very special cookies? Now you can, with this great cookbook binder! It’s a great place to gather your favorite family recipes and pass them down to your grandchildren as they help you by standing on a stool and pouring ingredients into a bowl…
